Bios:

Ieva Bērziņa is Senior Researcher at the National Defense Academy of Latvia.  Her research interests include Comprehensive State Defense, Patriotism, Strategic Communication, Russia’s Strategy and Communication. Dovilė Budrytė is a Professor of Political Science at Georgia Gwinnett College, and she works on the EUROPAST project at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University.  She is also an invited senior researcher at Vytautas Kavolis Transdisciplinary Research Institute at Vytautas Magnus University. Her research interests include memory politics, trauma, nationalism and gender studies.  She is the author of multiple publications: https://www.budrytedovile.com

Violeta Davoliūtė is Professor at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University and Project Leader of Facing the Past: Public History for a Stronger Europe (Horizon Europe, 2022-2025). She has published extensively on the topics of population displacement and Soviet nationalities policy, historical trauma, identity, the politics of memory and nationalism in the aftermath of WWII in the Baltics and Europe. She is a co-editor of the CEU Press book series Memory, Heritage and Public History in Central and Eastern Europe.

Denys Kiryukhin is a researcher at Lund University. His research interests focus on the social and political development of post-Soviet states, the history of ideas, and political philosophy. He is the author and co-author of several books, including The Discourses of Justice in Historical Context (2021), Community and Tradition in Global Times (2021), Ukraine in Crisis (2017) and Ukraine and Russia: People, Politics, Propaganda and Perspectives (2015).

Eneken Laanes is the Professor of Comparative Literature at Tallinn University and the Project Leader of ERC project Translating Memories: The Eastern European Past in the Global Arena. Her research deals with transnational memory and transcultural memorial forms in post-Soviet memory cultures of Eastern Europe. Gabrielius Landsbergis was the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the 18th Government of the Republic of Lithuania, led by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė (2020–2024). Since 2016, he has been a Member of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania and has served as Chairman of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats since 2015. Previously, he was a Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2016. Before entering politics, he worked as a diplomat at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as well as at the Office of the Government of Lithuania. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy (2005) and a Bachelor’s degree in History (2003), both from Vilnius University.

All sessions and panels hosted by the Summer Research Laboratory are open to the public.
