Eugene Avrutin, professor of history with an affiliate appointment in the Program in Jewish Culture & Society, has been named the Tobor Family Professor in Jewish History. The Tobor Professorship was created in 2005 to support excellence in the study of Jewish European history. Avrutin is a renowned scholar of Eastern European Jewish history and the history of Russia, an innovative teacher who has developed several courses on Jewish history, and a staunch contributor to service across campus.
