The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center provides funding for course development grants in any discipline concerned with Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia or for the development of material relevant to the region within a broader course. The grant may be used to revise existing courses or develop new courses, although new courses are preferred. The RFP for new courses is released during the fall semester and announces the themes for that year’s competition. Courses that might fulfill a general education requirement are always welcome. Applicants are expected to make a commitment to teach the proposed course within two years of receipt of the grant.
Applications should include:
- A letter of application including: name, department, address, and telephone number.
- A brief (2–3 page, double-spaced) proposal outlining the course to be developed and the preparation to be undertaken with the grant, including a brief preliminary course outline. Please include the course title and the rubric under which the course will be offered. Proposals for integrating material into a new or existing course should make clear how and the extent the integrated material will be used within the course.
- A current curriculum vitae.
- A letter of support from the applicant’s department affirming that the course will be offered.
Visiting faculty are not eligible for course development grants.
